Have you heard…

…about The Pecan Pandemonium?

It began with the promise of a perfectly civilised breakfast.

A generous bowl of golden sourdough granola sat at the centre of the table, fragrant with warm cinnamon, laden with buttery toasted pecans and scattered with crisp coconut.

There was, by all accounts, plenty for everyone.

The first disagreement concerned the pecans.

One member was observed selecting rather more than could reasonably have arrived in his bowl by chance. Another objected. A third quietly helped himself while everyone else was distracted.

Matters deteriorated rather quickly.

Spoons crossed. Bowls were repositioned. Someone was caught concealing a particularly impressive cluster beneath a folded napkin.

By the time the last pecan had been claimed, there was cinnamon on the tablecloth, coconut on the floor and very little dignity remaining anywhere.

The incident became known, inevitably, as The Pecan Pandemonium.

The Society has since taken precautions.

Larger bowls are now used.

They have not helped.

Spoon over thick Greek yoghurt or silky coconut yoghurt for a composed and comforting bowl.

Scatter across warm stewed apples or pears, allowing the spices to settle in with quiet grace.

Crown a bowl of creamy porridge for a refined touch of warmth and texture.

Fold into overnight oats for a gently nutty lift come morning.

Pair with fresh berries – raspberries, blueberries, or blackberries – for a bright, tart counterpoint.

Serve with sliced banana, whose sweetness complements the maple and spice beautifully.

Match with ripe stone fruits – peaches, plums, or apricots – whether fresh, roasted, or lightly caramelised.

Finish baked peaches, roasted figs, or poached pears with a generous scattering for an elegant flourish.

Add to vanilla ice cream or coconut gelato for a softly spiced, aristocratic crunch.

Serve alongside a spoonful of crème fraîche or ricotta for a richer, more cultivated moment.

Store your granola in an airtight container and keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.

Ensure the lid is secured after each use to maintain its crisp, toasty texture.

Enjoy within 3 weeks of delivery for peak freshness and flavour.

If the granola softens over time, simply warm it on a low oven heat for a few minutes to restore its gentle crunch.

Rolled OATS, chopped mixed nuts (HAZELNUTS, ALMONDS, CASHEW NUTS, WALNUTS), sourdough starter (WHEAT flour, water), PECANS, maple syrup, coconut sugar, coconut oil, coconut chips (dried coconut, coconut blossom sugar, sea salt), pumpkin seeds, vanilla extract (water, ethanol, sugar, vanilla bean extract), ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground nutmeg, sea salt (anti-caking agent: sodium ferrocyanide).
